What I Bring to the Table

Prospective clients have asked what it's like to work with me. While I'd rather let my references have the final word about that (and I'm happy to share their contact info), I think I can safely say the following:

 

I believe that writing and editing are about collaboration, and that openness and respect are critical to a successful client-contractor relationship. When you hire me to do something, I want to get it right. I'll listen closely, take notes, ask questions, and request examples. I'll do my best to work within your deadlines and budget, promptly communicating about any issues that may come up. Before the project begins, I'll draft a memorandum of understanding, which is generally a one-paragraph statement of our shared expectations. Once we're in agreement on this, it's show time!
